About Carlisle & Collins

Established in 2002 as David B Carlisle & Co Ltd, we merged with Collins Actuaries (Scotland) LLP in 2011, and then changed our name to Carlisle & Collins to incorporate both companies in March 2012.

Sandra is an Associate of the Faculty of Actuaries. She has been involved with pension consultancy since 1995, initially with large actuarial consultancies and latterly as an actuary and director of Carlisle & Collins Limited. She has developed a broad range of knowledge and experience of all types of pension arrangements and currently advises more than 40 Small Self-Administered Schemes (SSASs).

For almost twenty years Sandra has also provided or been involved in expert witness opinions for the legal profession, specialising in the earnings and pension aspects of personal injury, family law and employment tribunal cases. She has taken instructions over the years from several hundred solicitors from all over Scotland.

We offer a free initial review of papers after which we will provide either a fixed fee quote or an estimate of time costs.

Attendance at Consultations and Court appearances are charged at time cost.

"I have known and worked with Sandra for many years and have always been able to turn to her for guidance about the merit or otherwise about pursuing and actuarial valuation. Sometimes as a practitioner I feel there is an 'issue' with a valuation but not always sure why. Sandra is always helpful and clear in explaining her views and the way forward. I have found her advice and sometimes handholding invaluable over the years. She is my firm's go-to Actuary."

"As  divorce lawyer I have used Carlisle Collins on a number of occasions. Sandra Terras is an, actuarial consultant  who at her core, provides professional,  expert, financial analysis. However she provides more than simply crunching the numbers. Ultimately she provides advice which we can then use to inform financial decision making in divorces. It is incredibly important we don’t just provide clients with the numbers and Sandra always communicates her analysis in a clear non-technical way, ensuring our clients fully understand its implications, as well as bearing in mind any limitations."

"Sandra is our 'go-to' choice of actuary. Helpful, knowledgeable and thoroughly professional, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend her work."

"I have regularly instructed Sandra Terras over the course of the last few years with regard to actuarial matters arising in connection with divorce cases – mostly in relation to pensions. I always find her very approachable, and efficient in dealing with instructions. She is able to present things in a way that assists us presenting matters to a Court if need be, and that I have found hugely valuable. Sandra also understands the legal issues underpinning her work which ensures that her Reports make sense to any Court they are presented to."

"We have instructed Sandra for pension valuation in a divorce, where there were multiple pensions and contributions before and after both marriage and separation. She gathered all information and provided a highly persuasive report within a quick time, and at a very reasonable cost. Her methodology was not challenged by the actuary for the other party. She was approachable and happy to discuss the issues and provide further comments as necessary. I would not hesitate to highly recommend her."
